The custom of making portraits of children after death has existed in Mexico for several centuries, as part of a larger ritual practice whose aim is to convert sorrow into joy and celebrate a pure soul’s transition into a new life. In these portraits, the dead children are considered to be angels and as such, they are not mourned but honored. This issue offers an analysis of this poignant ritual art form.PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING
